Once you have got your Provisional Licence you are now able to book your theory test. The current fee is £23. There are various options available for booking your theory test.
How to book your theory test
- The fastest way is to book via the www.nidirect.gov.uk website.
- You can also book by phone – theory test booking line: 0345 600 6700.
Lines are open from 8am to 12pm, Monday to Friday, expect on bank holidays. You’ll need a valid debit or credit card for payment (Visa, MasterCard, Delta, Visa Electron and Switch cards are accepted).
Alternatively you can book by post too. Just download a form online or pick one up from the theory or practical test centres.
You must pass the theory test before you can apply for your practical test. The theory test is in two parts, a multiple choice section and a hazard perception test.
Once you have passed your theory test you have two years in which to pass the practical test.
