Carrickfergus Grammar School were the lucky winners of the New Driver NI £1000 school draw!

The lucky school picked up the cash prize after booking the Safe Motoring presentation for their year 13 and 14 students. Teacher, Lisa Best, also received £250 as a thank-you for booking the presentation.

Since September 2021, over 90 schools across NI have booked the Safe Motoring presentation, covering topics including; the theory and practical test, buying a car, insurance, staying safe on the road, and finally, the students are asked to sign the New Driver NI Safe Motoring Pledge in association with Share the Road to Zero. The Safe Motoring Pledge is sponsored by CRASH Services, NI’s leading Accident Management company, and JMK Solicitors, NI’s Number 1 Personal Injury Solicitors, who both support the promotion of road safety and new driver education across NI.

For this academic year more than 1,940 NI students have signed up to the pledge, committing to safe motoring by; respecting the speed limit, never using mobile devices while driving, never ever driving under the influence of drink or drugs, always wearing a seat belt and being aware that driving when tired can kill.

Emma Duffy, New Driver NI Special Projects Officer, commented “I was delighted to present Lisa Best and Carrickfergus Grammar School with their prizes. It is fantastic that so many schools throughout Northern Ireland are committed to educating their students on getting on the road and staying safe once there. We are looking forward to the next academic year and hoping to reach even more schools and students to help create a community of safe drivers.”

Jonathan McKeown, Chairman at CRASH Services said, “We are delighted to support the New Driver Safety Ambassadors. As an accident management company, we feel there is a real importance to educating young people on the importance of safe motoring as they progress into driving for the first time. The advice and support that New Driver provides is excellent for those learning to drive and for those in their first few years on the road.”
